Supercool launches Author Studio for fiction writers
The new platform uses a guided AI co-author to help writers set up a novel’s structure before drafting begins, and can also import an existing manuscript for revision or extension.
Supercool has launched Author Studio, a fiction-writing platform built around an AI co-author that is designed to give writers structure and momentum without taking creative control away from them.
According to the announcement, the product is described as “Cursor for fiction authors.” Its guided wizard takes users through 21 steps before a single chapter is written, covering the elements a novel needs to hold together from the start.
Those setup steps include genre, subgenre, target length, chapter count, premise, title, subtitle and author name. The system also builds out characters in dedicated sections for the protagonist, antagonist and supporting cast, then sets world-building and locations before drafting begins.
The wizard also prompts writers on tone and voice, point of view, reading level and narrator voice. It structures the plot in advance and deals with the cover as part of the setup. At each step, it suggests options while still leaving room to paste in existing material.
Author Studio offers two starting paths. One is the guided wizard, which the announcement says is recommended for almost everyone, whether they are starting from nothing or bringing in existing material. The other is for writers who already have a finished or near-finished manuscript.
When a completed document is imported, the platform deconstructs it into a story bible. It then pulls chapters into the editor and maps the existing work into a structured foundation that can be built upon, revised or extended.
The release frames the product as useful for self-publishing authors who do not have the structural support that traditional publishing can provide to writers with agents and publishing deals. It also says the tool is meant to help content creators turn raw material based on expertise into a book-length narrative.
Supercool’s pitch is that the hardest part of finishing a book is often not coming up with ideas, but sustaining them across tens of thousands of words. The company says most writing tools begin at the sentence level, while Author Studio starts at the foundation level, establishing everything a novel needs before the first chapter is written.
