Raagverse launches with human-written, AI-assisted debut album

Amita Madhvani’s new Indian label released three Mamta Javkar-written songs, with details of the AI tools and vocals used not disclosed.

Raagverse, a new Indian music label built around human songwriting and AI-assisted production, launched on Oct. 20 with the three-track album "Janaa Hai Toh Jao." The release is available on YouTube Music, Apple Music, Spotify and other major streaming services. The album’s title track leads the release, alongside "Koi Keh De Usse" and "Tere Liye." Mamta Javkar wrote the lyrics for all three songs. Variety reported on the launch, describing Raagverse as the latest venture from Amita Madhvani, chief executive of Equinox Virtual. The label’s stated process puts people in charge of the lyrics, creative direction and emotional tone of each song. Tracks begin with Javkar’s words and the feeling or idea behind them; AI is then used as one of several tools to develop the material into a finished recording. Madhvani said the model was intended to put human imagination in the lead. “It is not human creativity versus AI,” she said. “It is about seeing what becomes possible when human imagination leads and technology helps us take it somewhere new.” Neither the AI tools used on the debut recordings nor the identities of the singers were disclosed in the launch reporting. That leaves unanswered whether the vocals are human and how the release might be classified under proposed music-industry AI-labeling systems, which distinguish between substantially human-made tracks using AI elements and recordings featuring AI lead vocals or key instrumental performances. Amita Madhvani co-founded Equinox Virtual with Ram Madhvani. The company is the artificial-intelligence and immersive-technology arm of Equinox Films and Ram Madhvani Films. Raagverse is registered as intellectual property, and Equinox Virtual plans to use it as a home for further original music made with software-assisted production while retaining human songwriting. The label follows Madhvani’s work on "Mohini – Khud Se Pyaar," an Equinox Virtual musical microdrama that was her first experiment with AI within a broader creative process. The production, rooted in Maharashtra’s folk traditions and centered on a Kathak dancer after her father’s death, was built entirely with AI tools. Its opening song, "Angaat Aalay Ka," was released in July. Raagverse arrives amid other Indian music companies’ AI-related projects in 2026, including Eros Music Worlds’ AI-native artists and Saregama’s AI music videos for songs from 1960s films.
