SIQA names nominees for inaugural AI Music Awards in Los Angeles
Ava Bently and Slime Dot lead the field as the new awards program prepares for a two-day November event at The Mayan.
SIQA, the Sonic Intelligence Academy, has released the official nominees for its inaugural AI Music Awards, a 25-category program scheduled for Nov. 13 at The Mayan Music Venue in downtown Los Angeles. The event is intended to give AI artists a dedicated awards stage, with nominees covering Fully AI-Generated, AI-Assisted and Human + AI Hybrid work.
Ava Bently and Slime Dot lead the field with six nominations each, according to AI Musicpreneur. Xania Monet and Proph3ci have five apiece. The nominations comprise 125 slots shared by 72 acts, following more than 2,000 submissions.
The AI Song of the Year shortlist consists of “How Was I Supposed To Know?” by Xania Monet, “Already Her” by Nova Solé, “Let 'Em” by Waking Up Christopher, “God Don't Play About Me” by Aria Blu and “Morning Magic” by Millionaire Muses. The AI Artist of the Year nominees are Xania Monet, Olivia B. Moore, Aria Blu, Slime Dot and Ava Bently.
Nominations opened Aug. 31 and closed Sept. 25. After SIQA’s review process, verified registry artists selected five nominees in each category, and artists were barred from voting for their own work. SIQA says the eventual winners, apart from the team-selected SIQA Off the Charts Spotlight Award, are chosen by verified artists in its registry rather than anonymous polling or algorithms.
SIQA’s nominee page lists 25 awards, including song, artist, album, producer, group, music video, collaboration, assisted-song and genre categories. Its event overview separately describes 20 awards culminating in AI Song of the Year. AI Musicpreneur reported that winners will be announced across two days, beginning with a Premiere Ceremony at the Nov. 12 SIQA Summit, while 13 awards are due to be presented on stage at The Mayan the following night.
The Nov. 13 ceremony is set to include a red carpet, celebrity appearances, the first SIQA Visionary Award and hybrid human-plus-AI performances. Creators behind acts including Xania Monet, Olivia B Moore, Chaisen Hale and EJ Rogers are expected to direct the performances. Music Business Worldwide reported that the shows will use a live band and immersive visuals, and that the ceremony will be streamed worldwide.
The awards arrive alongside SIQA’s verification system. The company launched its Verified Registry and accompanying app on Sept. 10, describing them as tools for artists, labels, distributors, platforms and listeners to establish a track’s origin and level of AI involvement. The app uses audio fingerprinting to identify songs and display their classification.
Tickets for the awards are on sale. Music Business Worldwide reported a $250 ticket price, a 600-seat capacity for The Mayan and fewer than 100 tickets released to the public. Tickets for the Nov. 12 SIQA Summit go on sale Oct. 15; the summit is due to include industry panels, including one involving Romel Murphy, chief executive of dai+drm.
